Groms up to bat - Anthony Messere Interview

The two of us sat down and decided to do a short interview of Anthony to showcase his riding in photo and film with some words thrown into the mix. Anthony is 11 years old and has been riding mountain bikes for 6 years now and is hoping to reach a few of his new goals this biking season.
Enjoy! TS-So introduce yourself! AM-Ok well..um I'm 11 years old and from Vancover B.C and I'm into all kinds of biking and absolutely love the sport! TS-What is your game plan for the 2008 year? AM-Well I plan to enter some competitions to see how I do up against kids my own age and I want to ride hard and have fun! TS-What type of clothes do you prefer to ride in? AM-Well I really like to ride in jeans and a nice t-shirt with a nice sweater so I can look good for the ladies-ha!  TS-Ha ha who is your favorite rider and why? AM-Well I have two; one Cameron McCaul because he is an amazing rider and he rides because he loves it. Another is Andreu Lacondeguy because he rides well and has a funny personality. Not saying I don't like Canadian riders! TS-What is your favorite bike movie? AM-I'm gonna have to say NWD 7 or Live Free, Die Hard because they're both full of crazy things!  TS-So what do you prefer to ride? AS-Well I really like dirt jumps because you can hit them HUGE and learn a lot of tricks! I also love freeriding - like hitting drops and big booters. TS-Where is your favorite place to ride? AS-I'm gonna have to say whistler or Pipeline because they both have stuff that you can hit big or just kinda relax and flow. TS-Well I think I've asked enough, oh wait, what's your favorite food? AM-Hmm let's see... well I love eating ice cream because I enjoy eating a lot and getting a brain freeze! TS-Nice! What Flavor? this kid shreds hard... especially for his age.
Nice man, definitely keep it up. It's amazing how much control you have of a bike that's almost 3/4 of your height. Just don't make the mistake I did when I turned 16 and got a license..... Still regret that one.

that bike is too big for him but he seems to throw it around pretty good!
I also thought the bike was too big for him.. I guess he will grow into it though. Awesome riding and keep it up. Let me know if you ever make it out on the east coast for racing or downhilling.

In the past few months i have seen a bunch of flicks of him in the photo section. I was always very impressed. So young and small yet stylish and pulling big moves, FOR AN **11 YR OLD**.

this kids got a wicked future if he keeops on rippin as hard as he does, think bout it, by the time hes 15/16, he'll be as good as the pros are when they're like 20-24, this kid HAS skill, hes ridin a bike that almost the size of him and hittin massive gaps, and throwing trixs of'em, somebody please sponsor this kid!

wow, the thing that amazes me is how he finds the strength to do all that on a full suss that size, he's tiny and only 11, therefore no proper muscle growth. Im 14 (but the size and build of a 16/17yr old), and Im proper drained after every hit having just converted to full sussers, he really is increadible, and has way more balls than any one twice his size (metaphorically speaking of course). Keep shredding. Im not jelous. Honest.
crazy, only problem is 99 percent of kids that good at that age stop by the time there 16,no question if you stick with it youl be a big name pro,but you better be as dedicated as you look cuz it would be a shame to see you quit oneday. but this looks promising so keep going buddie,your so good.

important stuff??????????? I think the youth of the sport are the IMPORTANT stuff ...get your head outta your ass!
Don´t get me wrong, please. Youth is important, of course. But that´s just one guy out of thousands. But yeah, go on and feature 500 more Kids like him on PB. Half of them will quit when they get a girlfriend or school takes up more time. I´m a youth tutor at the fire dep. over here, we know that effect quite well. But don´t be worried: The cool ones come back when they´re ready. It´s just a little too early for him, sorry.

good point dude,i mean if they are any bit important then we will see them when there actaly pro...besides theres alot of kids remerkable for there age weather it be 11 or 15,infact peep this kid hes 12,and killign it even harder,throwing fully extended no cans and super seats http://www.pinkbike.com/video/6918/ hes not on the news here...

at 162 he comes so close to nose diving and crashing. still a no hander is pretty dope. especially with a heavy fork like the dirt jumper 4. man you get some serious props from me. if i ever go an a road trip to bc i will search this kid out and enjoy his skills. hey anthony if you read this you are one cool kid!
He's a great rider (although unfortunately his bike is very big for him) but I am totally skeptical that he's wearing a sweater "for the ladies." He's 11. There are no "ladies" at 11.
